Last minute Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

  • Ali

When it comes to gifting your mum this Mother's Day a healthy treat could be just what she's after.

I love buying gifts and have discovered over the years that a gift that has longevity, like a good book or one off experience is prized much more than a fleeting box of chocolates or sweet treat.

So what's on my mother's day gift list?

For the lifelong learner in your life

Why not treat your mum to a magazine subscription as something a bit different this Mother’s Day. I buy my mum a subscription for Christmas every year so she has something to look forward to for the next 12 months. Top of my list this year is a subscription to the healthy living magazine Free From Heaven which specialises in gluten free, sugar free, dairy free, egg free and veggie recipes. It’s a fabulous read and full of inspiring ideas to keep every meal time special and free from all those known allergens we try to avoid. It would also ensure mum is never short of healthy recipes when she wants to rustle up a treat.

I recently had the pleasure of going on one of Louise Brooks hat making workshops at Hats From The Hall. It was a fabulous day with like-minded people who all got stuck in and created amazing head pieces. There was a wide range of abilities and experience from the complete amateur (me) to the crafter and a lady who had made her own hat for her daughter’s wedding! On offer was the chance to make either a felt cloche hat or a fascinator – the choice of colours and styles was endless and the creativity flowed over numerous pots of tea and homemade scones. An experience gift or course like this is ideal for Mother’s Day to help your mum to try something or new, so you can spend some quality time together having fun.

For the gardener in your life

I love a new pair of gardening gloves as I get through them as if they are going out of fashion. One of my favourites and which have lasted for years are my faithful leather gloves from Gold Leaf. I love the Tough Tough gauntlet gloves as they allow me to prune even prickly bushes like pyracantha without coming to any harm. They are simply kid skin soft and supple, meaning you have complete dexterity when it comes to fiddly jobs yet the back up of a tough leather to keep you safe. They just seem to make a simple job a pleasure.

Or how about coffee and cream? For an inexpensive last minute Mother’s Day treat match up a lovely mug with an Arbonne hand cream. Because of its purity a dot is a lot with this botanical hand cream so it's a present that will last for nine months or more and is sure to smooth the toughest gardening hands.  Or for those horrible cuts that we gardeners suffer with the ABC nappy cream is amazing. I know it seems sad to suggest a nappy cream for gardeners hands but it really is a miracle cure for any cuts, scrapes, bumps or burns.

For the indulgent mum in your life

A little indulgence never did any of us any harm. Why not treat mum to a Spa day and join her for rest and relaxation this Mother’s Day. It's a fun way to bond with a parent and enjoy some girly time together. You’re sure to come home relaxed and ready to face the week ahead. Check out your nearest day spa or book a treatment at a local beauty salon.

Or create your own treatment with a home spa and give Mum an indulgent foot spa and mini makeover. The Arbonne Sea Source spa products are an indulgent mix of sea algaes and botanicals. They smell delicious and feel divine. Mum will definitely love this treat. Sign her up as an Arbonne preferred client and not only will you save 20% on this order and receive a free gift with orders over £120 but mum can take advantage of 20% off everything she buys for the rest of the year too – amazing!

For the foodie in your life

If your mum has suddenly found her healthy side then why not create a purpose made basket of healthy ingredients which can be brought together into a favourite recipe as a thoughtful last minute Mother’s Day gift.

I love to put together a protein brownie jar. There’s everything mum will need to create her own brownies and all stored in a beautiful jar with a bespoke label. I use the Arbonne Vegan chocolate protein powder as I know the quality is excellent and it has a low glycaemic index so won’t spike your blood sugar leaving you hungry 30 minutes later. Having replaced the refined sugar with coconut sugar in these amazing brownies I don’t want to go and add a poor quality protein which is packed with sugar and undo all my good work.

See my favourite brownie recipe here.

I hope this Mother’s Day gift guide has helped to give you some great gift ideas for your mother or the women in your life!
