Hangover Cure Smoothie

  • Ali

If your celebrations got a little out of hand last night then it might be a good idea to give your digestive system a little rest and help your body to alkalize and detoxify.

Drink an Alkalizing green drink

One of the easiest things you can do is to start your day with something that is alkaline, detoxifying, very nourishing, easily digested and easy to make. A green smoothie is ideal.

Either mix some cruciferous veggies – broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, kale into a shake or smoothie or use Arbonne’s Green Balance supplement. It’s a fantastic blend of alkaline forming fruits and vegetables from across the colour spectrum which delivers phytonutrients and fibre. It can be drunk on its own or added to your protein shake.

As a base you can use filtered water, coconut water for its electrolytes or cold herbal tea to benefit from specific herbs – I love the Arbonne Detox Tea as it’s working to detox the liver, lungs and kidneys.

So what’s in my smoothie?

  • Cucumbers and lemons promote alkalinity in the body – I know we think of lemons as acidic but in your body they become alkaline.

  • Avocado provides healthy fats, proteins and fibres and helps smooth the shake out.

  • Frozen mangoes add a bit of natural sweetness and provides beta-carotene which the body converts into Vitamin A.

  • You can also add raw honey if you have a particularly sweet tooth or add 1 or 2 scoops of Arbonne Vanilla Protein Powder. (The protein is also particularly good for a hangover).

  • Coconut oil is extremely nourishing and will help to balance blood sugar, just as cinnamon will.

  • Ginger helps to reduce motion sickness and inflammation in the gut if you are experiencing this post your night on the town!

  • Sea salt adds extra minerals and trace elements to the smoothie, and the greens will help to alkalize and detoxify the body even more, as well as providing added vitamins and minerals.
