Bad hair day questions answered

  • Ali

When we’re having a bad hair day the whole world knows it, so what can we do to make sure our bad hair days are a thing of the past?

There are so many things that affect our hair, how it behaves, its overall health and the way it behaves – good or bad! Everyone’s hair is different but there are some classic things we can all do to make sure that when we want to get ahead we don’t need to wear a hat and can let our hair speak for itself!

What can I do to improve my hair health?

Hair is protein, so eating an adequate protein rich diet will help to strengthen the hair and ensure it grows more quickly. Eating plenty of plant based protein, peas and beans, is key for vegans, vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.

I can’t always afford to go to the salon for hair treatments? What sort of hair treatments can be done at home?

Once a week, I love to lie in a bath with a hair and scalp mask on. I apply the Arbonne Sea Source Fortifying Hair Mask from the roots to the tips and then wrap my hair in a warm towel or heated flannel. Dampen a small hand towel and pop it in the microwave for 30 seconds to heat it. The relaxation will help your hair internally, and the warmth and steam of the bath will help penetration of the products. Try t for 15-20 minutes.

What are some tips for healthier hair?

  1. Shampoo and condition your hair daily or every other day. Be sure to choose the correct products for your hair type and never have the water too hot.

  2. If you swim a lot make sure you wash your hair in a product that will pull out the chlorine or it can leave colour treated hair with a nasty yellow low. Arbonne’s Sea Source Rescue Wash is an ideal hair and body wash for this.

  3. Use a Hair Mask once a week— it will help your scalp too and a healthier scalp leads to healthier hair.

  4. Always use a protective styling aid when blow drying and do not over dry. Make sure you stop when your hair is just dry. I love Arbonne’s Pure Vibrance Colour Last Hair Serum .

  5. If your scalp is dry and flakey or your hair is thin then apply a scalp mask once or twice a week. I have male and female clients who swear by Arbonne’s Thermal Fusion Hair and Scalp Revitalizer.

  6. DO NOT brush the hair hard or pull too tightly—BE GENTLE at all times, your hair will thank you for it.
